Making Your Own Adorably Festive Outdoor Christmas Tree Gnomes Is Easier Than You Think

Are you really into gnomes? That kind of sounds like a fun question to turn and ask a perfect stranger in an elevator, doesn’t it?  Well, if you’re looking for a new way to wow the neighbors this Christmas season, then you should build your own DIY outdoor Christmas tree gnomes! These festive little guys are sure to make your lawn decor the talk of the street. Best of all, you don’t need a lot of DIY skill to pull this off, and there are nearly limitless customization options to give them that extra somethin’-somethin’ that will put your gnomes over the top.

When it comes to building your gnome, one thing folks use are tomato cages. You add a few branches and tie them to the cage to create your bearded body, add some tiny gnome hands, a big stocking cap, and a round nose. Some folks will use a wooden ball, while others might opt for a potato or even a red ornament. What’s really cool about these creations because you can make some pretty incredible-looking gnomes using different colored branches. If you’re handy with spray paint, you can make them any color you can dream of!

Now, the folks in the pic below decided to go big at their home with these massive gnome creations.

This person made theirs using garland.

Sue from Pinterest explained that she made these gnomes using Christmas table clothes she bought at goodwill; she said she used anything she could get her hands on, such as Christmas leggings. She would tuck one leg into the other before sewing what looks like V. Baby Afghans wrapped and tied for a very creative effect.

These gnomes are a great family project you can make with the kids.

The sky is the limit when it comes to designing your ideal gnomes.
