It happened in Boston at MIT when scientists created ink that can alert a diabetic when their blood sugar levels change. It can help them to identify if the sugar levels are too high or too low. The best part about it is that the ink can be permanently marked on an individual’s body so they can constantly monitor their blood sugar by simply checking the color of the tattoo. It’s a convenience that many people will be able to take advantage of and it is so much better than sticking yourself with a needle multiple times per day.

The most common way to check your blood sugar levels is with a finger prick. This can get very sore after a while.
Researchers at MIT have developed an ink that changes color to respond to changes in the body.
It is known as the DermalAbyss project. Tattoo ink is replaced with 4 biosensors that change as they respond to the body fluid.
The pH sensor turns from purple and pink and the glucose sensor from blue and brown.
A second pH level and sodium are other sensors that can change under a high intensity UV light.
The tattoo was created to help diabetics because they need to constantly check their blood sugar levels.
It is currently in a testing phase
The researchers aren’t quite ready to test things on humans but they may be close to doing so.
