If there is one thing that all of us are interested in, it’s our personal safety. Yes, we probably all do things on a daily basis that we might consider boneheaded and the shortcuts that we take certainly put us at risk in some way or another. The fact of the matter is, there are going to be times when we need to step outside of our comfort zone in order to be safe. That being said, there is a difference between doing something that is risky and doing something that is outright dangerous.

Even if you don’t consider yourself to be a risk taker, you might be surprised with how you put yourself in a risky situation from time to time. Individuals who do take risks tend to put themselves in harm’s way and it may seem almost as if they are self-destructive at times. On the other hand, those who follow safety rules on a regular basis may be considered boring by those risk-takers, but they are actually being intelligent.

1. Always go along with your instincts. It may seem obvious but there are a lot of times we ignore it.

9. Walk with your keys in your hand if you are in a parking lot alone at night. It allows you to get in your car and drive off quickly.

10. Don’t text while you’re walking. You might just end up as an easy target.

11. If you plan on going for a hike, you may get lost. Find water and shelter before anything else. Those are the most important things for survival.

12. It is smart to keep your keys at your bedside. If someone breaks into the home, press the panic button and the alarm in your car will go off.
